I Challenge You.

Hello, bloggers!!

I am wide awake and it’s closing in on midnight, here in my little hometown of Alabama. I don’t post as often as I’d like and I hate that, but, I’m feeling inspired. So here I am and I am asking you to listen…

Life is too short to live with regrets… to wonder what if… to not give your all. Life is meant to have purpose, but are you living life with one?

Are you kind? Are you forgiving? Do you love? Do you cherish? Do you laugh? Do you cry? Do you give?

Are you living every day to its fullest potential? Do you take chances? Do you make the most out of opportunities?

If you can’t answer that, then there’s a good chance you are not living life as it should be lived. So I challenge you today. I challenge you to go that extra mile for someone. I challenge you to forgive and love, and show genuine kindness. I challenge you to give into laughter, give into crying. I challenge you to give until you can’t give anymore. I challenge you to take a chance… on some one, on some thing… on LIFE.

Take one day of your life, and focus it on someone else. Live completely selflessly for one day and see what a difference it can make in your life.

I. Challenge. You.

Who will you challenge? Will you take a stand today, to make a difference in someone’s tomorrow? Let us work together to be the change that we all need!!

purpose1change1 Now, who is with me?? Let me hear your thoughts!!

  1. Here are some words I live by (and you may have seen me tweet some of them):

“I am not destined for greatness; no one is really. That will not deter me from attempting to achieve great things ”

“Sometimes opportunity doesn’t knock; so why wait for a knock when you can always open a door?”

“Plan your life as if you will live for a very long time. Live your life as if it might end tomorrow.”

“Count your blessings; count the important ones twice”

You cannot control life; in most cases it just happens to you. You can control how it affects you.

“When your chances are one in a million strive to be “one”; while the chances of success are very low, you will still be better for the effort”

“I do not fear failure; I fear the day I fail so badly that I contemplate not trying again”

“Make your own happiness; no one else is responsible for it ”

I have others too but maybe I’ll just leave these for now.

  2. When someone is being hurt or verbally abused, or has collapsed, don’t stand on the sidelines watching, but do something about it. If it were you wouldn’t you want someone to stand up for you? Marlena I am taking the challenge! Thanks for the thoughtful discussion.

  3. I spent much of my professional life trying to make a difference teaching in high schools in some very tough areas of London. I spent nearly 30 years trying to make a difference to my (ex) wife, until the day she sat me down and said I was the best friend she had ever had, and she wouldn’t still be alive if it wasn’t for me, but now they’d invented Prozac she didn’t need me anymore and was having nothing more to do with men.
Now I spend most of every day trying to help my fellow self-published authors sell more books, and writing my own in the hope that I may leave something worthwhile behind. My books ask my readers to love learning, to respect others, and to protect the planet. Amy and I work with a performing arts group for people with and without special needs to enable those born with a variety of disabilities to develop self-confidence through song and dance.
I suppose I’m saying I think I’ve spent my whole life trying to make the world a better place. Isn’t that what decent people do? Thank you for making me think about it, and I hope I’ve added something to the discussion… :-)

  4. Reblogged this on Life As I Know It and commented:

    Hello, bloggers!!

I found myself reflecting today and I stumbled across this post from over two years ago. I don’t brag often, but it’s a dang good post. One that should be read and shared. Not because I’m the author of said post, but because of the subject matter.

There is so much bad in this world today. It’s time for us to bring a little good into it…

Blessings to you as we come to the end of another week.

  5. Hi Marlena! I strive each day to be the best version of myself. I try to be honest, kind, understanding and supportive. I believe that everyone is entitled to be treated with empathy, consideration and respect. This post is inspiring and a wonderful reminder of what it is to be human. Thank you. :)
