Good morning, bloggers!!

1) Have you always known you wanted to pursue a writing career?

Absolutely! As a child, I was constantly making up stories and thinking of new worlds. I wrote short stories and poems throughout my adolescent years and university years, so as an adult it had always been a goal of mine.

2) What has been your biggest accomplishment as a writer?

I do not see the glass as half empty, yet I am so green in the publishing world that I do not think I have accomplished much. However, I take joy from beating goals set and I am over the moon happy with my book’s sales, the positive feedback and making the top50 on Kindler’s bestseller’s list.

3) What part of writing do you find most exhilarating?

The birth of new characters. Bringing them into existence and then building them up, forming them into believable human beings with their strengths and their weaknesses. I love creating the way my characters act and think. Captain Papacosta and Lieutentant Ioli Cara are my protagonists and I enjoy creating secondary characters that affect them, especially the villain. The Olympus Killer is definitely my most complex character so far.

4) What part is most difficult?

Accepting that the words in front of you form a chapter and that the chapter is ready. I am a perfectionist (a right Virgo as I have been told) and I keep reading over and over again the same chapters, switching words and adding adjectives and so on. I find it hard letting go.

5) What do you think makes you standout from other authors?

I write fast paced thrillers which is a genre with many talented writers. What I believe makes me stand out is the setting. The Greek Islands are majestic and exotic. The characters that live there, the way they talk and act and the food they eat, are different to what we are used to reading about. Most thrillers take place in a major American or European city. Also, in my book The Olympus Killer, the way the killer’s back story unfolds beginning with his mother as a teen is quite unique.

6) Where do you find inspiration for new stories?

Everywhere! Every person, every emotion, every place, food, music, movie, situation can inspire a writer. Every detail of life can be a starting point for a story or a character and become a part of a book.

7) What are your favorite inspirational quotes?

And as imagination bodies forth
The forms of things unknown, the poet’s pen
Turns them to shapes and gives to airy nothing
A local habitation and a name.
– William Shakespeare (from A Midsummer Night’s Dream)

If you can tell stories, create characters, devise incidents, and have sincerity and passion, it doesn’t matter a damn how you write.
– Somerset Maugham

The first inspires me to create and the second gives me courage when I feel insecure about my writing.

8) Please entice the readers with some details on what they will find in your novel, THE OLYMPUS KILLER.

The Olympus Killer is a fast, paced thriller with twists and turns designed to shock. It is not for the squeamish, that’s for sure.

It starts off with a set of murders which Hellenic Police Captain Papacosta, a broken ex-New York detective and Lieutenant Cara, a young outspoken Cretan, are called to solve. The bodies were found on different Greek islands, naked and mutilated. As the story unravels, a strange connection to Greek mythology is discovered. Parallel to the main story, we are told the story of 17 year old Katie, in Dayton (USA). Katie is abused daily and after being gang-raped at school, runs away from home and heads for New York.

It is a great summer read with the picturesque, sun kissed Greek islands being the setting for evil under the sizzling, Mediterranean sun.

9) This is book one of the Greek Island Mysteries. What can we expect from the other books of this series?

Book two is being written as we speak and book three has a working title and arc. Our main protagonists remain the same as Costa and Ioli will face even more dark and twisted mysteries. Book two will be a series of cases, in contrast to book one. And that is all I am revealing at the moment!

10) If THE OLYMPUS KILLER were turned into a movie, who would you cast as your characters?

As an avid movie goer, I love this question. It is my wildest dream come true. Hugh Jackman in the role of Costa, Jennifer Lawrence with black hair playing a 30 year old Ioli and Robert Downey Jr as the killer.

11) Paint us a scene.

Jackman and Lawrence stand on a wild, beautiful beach over a dead model whose arms have been brutally cut off while through flashbacks we will witness her date the previous night with Downey.

12) How did you create such dynamic characters?

By making them human. By making them one of us. And through their flaws we witness their journey to find strength and bring the Olympus Killer to justice.

I must admit that I had fun creating the killer. I always wanted to create a dark, cunning, twisted murderer.

13) What can we expect next from you?

To up the ante. To do my best to live up to expectations created by the success of The Olympus Killer. To become a better writer and show progress through my work.

14) What advice would you give to an aspiring writer?

Keep reading and keep writing DAILY! No matter what, keep at it. It is so easy to give up after having to deal with self-doubt, writer’s block, the time consuming marketing and disappointing sales. Believe in yourself and your story and strive to be the best ‘you’!

15) What is your best marketing/promoting tip?

Start promoting before your book is released. Create your platform of followers (Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Google Plus and what ever clicks for you) and interact not only to sell books, but to learn, connect and be part of the wonderful world of authors.

16) Is there anything else you would like to add for our readers?

I write to entertain. I love nothing more than hearing from readers. Feel free to contact me through social media and provide me with your precious opinion.
